Buddy J. Turner, age 87 of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026, at The Oaks at Ellijay.

Born on February 14, 1939, in Lathemtown, Georgia, Buddy was the son of the late Billy and Frances Turner. He proudly served his country as a United States Army Veteran. A hardworking man throughout his life, Buddy was truly a “never stopped working” kind of guy. He spent many years farming and raising chickens, taking great pride in the simple life and the work of his hands.

Buddy was a devoted fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved team. He also loved country music and enjoyed the comfort and memories it brought throughout the years. Above all, Buddy treasured his family and the time spent with those he loved most.

He is survived by his son, Benson Clark Turner of Ellijay, Georgia; daughter, Lana Turner Tomberlin of Garland, Texas; grandchildren, Haley, Nick, and Jacob; and great-grandchildren, Cera, Colten, and Carter.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Darby Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm on Sunday, May 24, 2026, in the Chapel of Darby Funeral Home with Rev. Benny Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the Orange Methodist Church Cemetery.
