Charles Wayman Chambers, 94, of Canton, GA, passed away peacefully at his home on November 16, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on March 31, 1930, to William Aaron Chambers and Myrtle Collins Chambers, Charles lived a life devoted to faith, family, and service. He is survived by his sons, David Chambers (Gina) of Canton, GA; Tim Chambers of Henderson, NV; Stephen Chambers (JoAnn) of Canton, GA; his brother Bruce Chambers (Doris) of Chattanooga, TN; sister Martha Ford of Chattanooga, TN; six cherished grandchildren, Morgan Chambers, Lawson Chambers, Britt Chambers, Zachary Chambers, Hilary Roberts, and Tim Roberts; and three beloved great-grandchildren, Faith Alsbrooks, Myron Roberts, and Jayden Roberts.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Kight Chambers, whom he married on July 4, 1954; three brothers, F.A. Chambers, Wesley Chambers, and Carroll Chambers; and sister Beverly Ann Crawford.
Charles was a man of deep compassion, reflected in his and Mary's extraordinary act of love as foster parents to over 40 children. A veteran of the United States Army, Charles served his country with honor before dedicating his life to his community and his faith as a longtime member of Canton First Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in the Chapel of Darby Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery, with Reverend Susan Brown officiating. The family will receive friends during visitation hours from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.
Charles Wayman Chambers will be remembered as a man of unwavering faith, kindness, and devotion. His legacy of love and service will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
