Mr. Charles Paul Galloway Jr., age 71 of Canton, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016 after a long illness. Services for Mr. Galloway will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 2:00PM at Georgia National Cemetery.
Mr. Galloway was an alumnus of Georgia Tech, American University and the University of Maryland. He was a lecturer in the graduate program at American University and an Associate Professor at Montgomery College, MD. Charley retired from the US Air Force and the General Electric Company. He was an adult Boy Scout Leader for more than 40 years serving in positions from Cub master and Scoutmaster to District Commissioner as well as a lifetime member of the National Eagle Scout Association. As a youth baseball coach for more than 35 years, Charley was involved in fundraising for youth sports as well as various other charitable organizations for many years. He was a long time member of the Elks fraternal organization.
He is survived by his wife; Sloane Jane Hyatt Galloway of Canton, GA formerly of Bryson City, NC, son; Ryan P. Galloway, Derwood, MD, daughter; Kelly L. Galloway, Derwood, MD, step-son Jeremy C. Hyatt of North Carolina, brother, William Higgins of North Carolina, cousins, Patti (Gary) Hart of Canton, GA, Suzanne Radcliffe, Asheville, NC. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He is preceded in death by his mother; Ruth F. Higgins, Asheville, NC, father; Charles P. Galloway, Sr. of Hayesville, NC, step- father, Bruce Higgins, Burnsville, NC.
