Charles Mitus Matthews, age 80 of Jasper, passed away on June 24, 2017 at Northside Hospital Cherokee. Visitation will take place on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 2:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Darby Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Darby Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenny Green and Reverend Horace Richards officiating. Interment will follow in Cherokee Memorial Park. Survivors include wife Marlene Matthews of Jasper; son; Greg Matthews, Acworth, GA, Charles Matthews Jr. , Jasper, GA; daughter; Susan (Lad) Silsbee of St. Cloud, FL, grandchildren; Cade Silsby, Charles Matthews III, Aaron Matthews, Greg Matthews Jr., Meagan Matthews and Summer Matthews.
