In Loving Memory of Christopher Lance “Lance” Casteel

Christopher Lance “Lance” Casteel, age 53, passed away on July 4, 2026. He was born November 30, 1972 in Rome, GA to Bob Casteel Jr. and Cathy Cargile Paolini.

Lance found his greatest peace in the outdoors. Whether he was camping beneath the stars, Hiking wooded trails, fishing or simply spending time surrounded by nature. That was where he felt most at home. He carried that love of the outdoors with him throughout his life.

In 1990, Lance proudly joined the United States Navy. Serving his country was a source of pride and he remained grateful for the opportunity to serve and honored to be an American. He was a graduate of Paulding County High School.

Lance had a special bond with his beloved cats whose companionship brought him comfort through the years. He treasured the friendships he built over his lifetime and cared deeply for his family. His loyalty never wavered and those fortunate enough to know him could always count on his friendship, his kindness and his heart.

Though he will be deeply missed, the memories of his laughter, his love of the outdoors and the unwavering loyalty he showed to those he loved will forever remail in their hearts.

He is survived by his father, Bob Casteel Jr. of Waleska, GA; his mother , Cathy Cargile Paolini of Smyrna, GA; his sister, Stephanie Casteel (Andy) Twilley of Hiram, GA; his step sister Carrie Kanouse of Stowe, Vermont; his aunt Diane Casteel of Rome, GA; his cousins Neely Motiejunas of Acworth, GA and Mark Hand of Holly Springs, GA; his niece and nephews Kadee, Carson and Cooper Twilley of Hiram, GA; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish his memory always.

A Celebration of Lance’s Life will be held at a later date. Family and friends are invited to gather to remember and honor a man whose love of nature, country, animals, family and friendship enriched the lives of those who knew him.

May he find eternal peace in the peace and beauty of the outdoors he loved so dearly. Though he is no longer with us, his adventurous spirit, his steadfast loyalty and the love he shared with family and friends will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
