Curtis Rudolph Williams 1930-2017


On November 30th Curtis Rudolph Williams was called home to be with his Heavenly Father. Born on January 3, 1930 in Utica, MS, Curtis was the son of Esther Ford Williams and Curtis Lamar Williams. He grew up in Jackson, MS and graduated from Central High School where he met the love of his life, Anne Elizabeth Ross. After graduating from Millsaps College, Curtis spent more than 40 years with Procter and Gamble, winning numerous awards for his sales and management achievements while living in Brookhaven, MS, New Orleans, Mobile, AL and Jacksonville, FL. After retirement, Curtis became actively involved in the Discover God's Call ministry as well as teaching Sunday School at Greensboro United Methodist Church in Georgia. He previously served as a Deacon at Arlington Presbyterian church in Ponte Vedra, FL. A highlight of his work for God was serving on a mission trip to Cuba in the early 90s. He loved golf and college football. For the last two years he's lived in Canton, GA, where he was a member of Canton First United Methodist Church.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Anne. He is survived by all his siblings: brother Lamar (Carol) of Brookhaven, MS, and sisters; Nina (Gullick) of Florence, MS and Margaret (Rex) of Taylor, SC, and by his children; Beth (Stuart) of Canton, GA, Barbara (Steve) of Marietta, GA, Jonelle (Tony) of Dunwoody, GA and Catherine (Robert) of Cumming, GA, as well as 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Visitation is Friday, December 1st, 5-7PM at Darby Funeral Home, Canton. Funeral services will be at the Canton First United Methodist Church chapel, Saturday December 2nd at 1PM. A graveside service will be held Monday, December 4th, 11AM at Decatur Cemetery in Decatur, MS. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canton First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 930 Lower Scott Mill Rd, Canton, GA 30115.
