David F. Burgess, age 72 of Canton, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. The family will receive friends at Darby Funeral Home on Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. The funeral service will take place on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 4:00p.m. from the chapel of Darby Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Emmett officiating. Interment will follow on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 11:00a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery. He is preceded in death by his brother, John H. Burgess Jr. He is survived by his wife Ruth Burgess of Canton, his son, David (Marisa) Burgess of Falmouth, Mass., his daughter, Connie (Tom) Cox of Woodstock, his brothers, Thad (Joanne) Burgess of Woodstock, Phillip (Linda) Burgess of West Cobb, his sister, Margaret Reeves of St. Simons Island, his sister-in-law, Ginny Burgess of Marietta, and his grandchildren, Garrison Tyler Cox, Tary Grace Cox, Delilah Ridge Burgess, and Macy May Burgess. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children or the NRA. The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is honored to serve the Burgess Family.
