David Anthony Burke, age 87, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025. Born on November 28, 1937, in Worcester, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Margaret Wyman Burke and Justin Burke.
A proud veteran, David served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to public service as a Corrections Officer for the State of New York, where he was also a distinguished member of the Honor Guard.
After retiring from corrections, David pursued a lifelong passion for boxing, becoming a professional boxing manager. Among those he mentored was IBF Junior Welterweight champion Jake Rodriguez, a testament to David's dedication and keen eye for talent.
An avid motorcycle enthusiast, David began riding Harley-Davidsons at the age of 17 and never lost his love for the open road. Fiercely independent and full of spirit, he lived life fully and on his own terms.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Burke of Woodstock, GA; his sons Michael (Kristin) Burke of Atlanta, GA, Michael (Brittany) Lyons of Dunwoody, GA, and Christopher Lyons of Woodstock, GA; his daughter Alexandra (James) Lange of Tampa, FL; and six cherished grandchildren.
A celebration of David's life will be announced at a later date.
