Doris Saxon, age 75 of Canton, GA passed away on November 5, 2014 at her residence. Visitation for the Saxon family will take place on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 3-8 PM, Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 2-6 PM, and Sunday, November 9, 2014 from 11-1 PM at Darby Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2 PM on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Canton First United Methodist Church. Reverend Floyd Tenney and Reverend Joey Hatchell will be officiating. Mrs. Saxon is survived by her husband, Frank Saxon of Canton, GA; son and daughter in law Randy and Sandra Saxon of Canton, GA; son and daughter in law Lance and Mitzi Saxon of Canton, GA; son and daughter in law Kent and Tracie Saxon of Marshallville, GA; daughter and son in law Amy and Mark Belcher of Birmingham, AL; sister Patsy Phillips of Jacksonville, FL; niece Martha Spriggs of Ball Ground, GA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cherokee County Historical Society, 100 North Street, Canton GA 30114. Doris was a beloved wife and mother to three sons and one daughter; grandmother to seven grandchildren and great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren who only knew her as Memaw. She was a strong advocate for children through local PTAs for many years and loved her hometown of Canton to her very core. She brought joy and happiness wherever she went and was loved by all who know her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
