Dr. Lizzette Garcia Edge passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on September 19, 2026. She was 66 years old.

Born on December 17, 1959, in Mexico City, Mexico. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Carlos Garcia- Irigoyen and Sylvia Yvonne Sheldon. She grew up in a loving, nurturing family and carried that devotion to her own family for her entire life.

She met her husband, Carter Edge, in 1978 in Chicago. She was attending college at Unitec in Mexico City at the time. She then moved to Georgia in 1982 and graduated from the Medical College of Georgia where she received her degree in dentistry in 1989.

After working for two years in Savannah, Georgia as the only dentist at Westside Urban Health Center, she and her husband, Carter, opened a private practice in Acworth, Georgia where she grew her family and her dental practice. Dentistry was her passion. Those who knew her well knew her love for art, music, and passion for life. Above all was her love for and dedication to her entire family.

She focused on her sons and family with an emphasis on education. Anyone who met her was immediately aware of her strength, forthright manner, fierce loyalty, and love for those closest to her.

Lizzette is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Dr. Carter Edge; her two sons, Dr. Carl Carter Edge IV and his wife, Frances Stone Edge, and Allen Taylor Edge; her granddaughters, Edith and Audrey Edge; her sisters, Dr. Audrey Garcia and Jacqueline Gutierrez (Rafael); her brother, Carlos Irigoyen (Claudia); and her mother, Sylvia Sheldon. She was preceded in death by her father, Carlos Garcia-Irigoyen, and her sister, Nuncy Garcia, and will be lovingly remembered by her family and all those whose lives she touched.
