Edwin Alexander Bowie, 91 of Jacksonville, FL died peacefully in his sleep after a rewarding long life on January 14, 2010, He was born on June 3, 1918 in New York City New York, the son of Edwin and Anna (Stewart) Bowie .After  serving  as a gunner in many missions in WWII , Edwin was married on November 22, 1947 to Doris Muriel Fetzer and devoted his life to his country and family raising five children. He is survived by his loving family, 3 sons, James Paul Bowie, Douglas Keith Bowie, Thomas Allen Bowie, and a daughter , Adelaide Jo (AJ) Bowie and 10 grandchildren, a son Russell Scott preceded him in death, a Memorial service is planned at Darby Huey Funeral Home , Tuesday February 2, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. .Following  the service he will be placed to rest in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, He is not only our hero , but an American Hero.
