Dr. Edwin Hobgood age 71 of Canton , Ga died on Wednesday July 8, 2009 . Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday from the Darby Huey Funeral Home Chapel, Interment in the Cherokee Memorial Park with Rev. Charles Davis Officiating. Survivors are Wife Annette Hobgood, Canton , Ga ; Step son Craig (Emily ) Mickel, Alpharetta, Step daughter, Angie Mickel , Canton, Ga Brother H.A. (Lisa) Hobgood, Canton, Ga Step Grandson, Thomas Mickel, . Dr. Hobgood began his career working for his Mother at the Howell Drive in at age 12 , after graduating High School he went on to attend Emory University, University of Georgia where he was a member of the KA fraternity. He attended California College of podiatric Medicine, where he graduated as valedictorian. He was hired as the First Staff Podiatrist where he practiced at Emory and Grady Hospitals. He worked to the diabetics clinic for 23 years. He once stated the highlight of his career was meeting Dr. Best the inventor of insulin. After retirement he moved back to Canton where he enjoyed renewing old friendships .
