Elizabeth H. Bailey (Liz), 86, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on June 26, 2024, after a
courageous battle with dementia. Born in Lavonia, Georgia, on December 25, 1937, Liz lived a
long and full life. At age 18, she took a bus to Atlanta and got a job at Southern Bell as an
operator. She continued to work at Southern Bell for 30 years until she was blessed enough to
retire at age 52.
Upon retiring, Bill, her husband of 55 years, and Liz bought a motor home and traveled the
United States. While on the road, they gained a passion for buying antiques and collectibles.
This passion led Liz to become a dedicated antiques and collectibles dealer for over 30 years.
Her antiques were sourced from countless antiques and thrift shops, auctions, estate, and yard
sales and more both locally and across the United States! They sold their finds at various
antiques shops in Cobb County including being long-time dealers at Big Shanty Antiques.
In addition to antiques, Liz loved reading, gardening, rooting for the Atlanta Braves, spending
time at Lake Hartwell and with her family.
Liz is survived by her sons Michael Phillips (Bryan Gesinski) and Steven Phillips (0 for 3), her
daughter, Julie Isom (Steve), grandchildren Amanda Isom, Stephanie Phillips, Christy Phillips,
and Clay Isom, great-grandchildren Weston Phillips and Sage Phillips. She is also survived by
her sisters, Frances Cleveland, Mary King, Shirley Bruce, and Susan Thornton all of Lavonia,
Georgia and brother Larry Hill of Canon, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill
Bailey, her parents Berter and Myrtie Hill and her brothers Floyd Hill, Roger Hill, Dewey Hill, and
Harold Hill.
A visitation for family and friends with be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the Darby Funeral
Home in Canton, Georgia from 6 PM-8 PM. A celebration of her life will be held on July 5, 2024,
at the Darby Funeral Home in Canton Georgia at 9 AM with the burial at the National Cemetery in
Canton, Georgia at 11 AM. The family requests that donations be made to the National
Alzheimer Association or Must Ministries in her memory.
