Elizabeth Wagner Cierech
7/21/1927- 7/18/2024
Betty grew up in Bayonne, NJ. She was married to her husband, John Thomas Cierech on June 21, 1946 just after he was discharged from the Army. They moved to Absecon NJ and had their first child, Irene. They later moved to Oceanville, NJ and had their 2 nd child, John Jr. "Jack". Betty's mother, Lucy Bolling Wagner lived with them from the beginning. In 1951, they purchased their first home in Northfield, NJ and had 2 more children, Regina and Lu Ann.
Betty was a loving wife and caring mother who imparted her values to her four children, Irene (Bill) Butcher,
John (Cheley) Cierech, Regina (Michael, deceased) Yargates, Lu Ann (Skip) Clark. She was a grandmother to 7 - Debbie Butcher Rogers (Jimmy), Bill Butcher Jr. (Carri), Beth Butcher Harper (Wes), Tara Cierech, Devona Cierech, Michael Gerety, and Christy Clark Miranda (George). Her legacy continued with 8 great-
grandchildren – Matthew and Megan Reeves, Mackenzie Butcher Dubs (Morgan), Kaelyn Butcher Armistead (Chris), Brenton Butcher (Jaden) and Cassidy Butcher Joslin (Seth), Peyton and Reece Harper, Matthew and John Miranda. Great-great grandchildren, include Charlotte and Emelia Dubs, Brooks and Callum Armistead and another soon to be born baby boy and Marigold Butcher. To say she was so proud of her family is putting it mildly! Counting her descendants and their spouses became very important to her and she expressed her love for every one of them.
Betty graduated from Pleasantville High School and went on to work for NJ Bell Telephone Company. As her children grew, she began teaching CCD classes at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church where she developed a curriculum for the program. In 1982, John retired and they moved to FL to be close to their daughters. Betty continued her work with young children by teaching CCD and working with her daughter, Irene, in preschool programs at the YMCA. Eventually they moved to Woodstock, GA and lived with their son, John and daughter-in-law Cheley. Later they moved back to FL.
After her husband passed away, she wanted to spend time with her children. She lived in Pompano Beach, FL near her youngest daughter, Lu Ann and son-in-law, Skip and then eventually moved to West Melbourne, FL to live with her daughter, Regina. In 2019, she moved to Canton, GA and lived with her daughter, Irene and son- in-law, Bill until the time of her death. She was a faithful member of The Episcopal Church of the Annunciation in Marietta, GA.
