Elizabeth "Dianne" McFarland, age 75, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2023, following an extended illness. She was born on February 15, 1947, in Canton, Georgia to Dillard Jefferson McCurley, Jr. and Vonceil Waldrop. A graduate of Cherokee High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Michael McFarland in the fall of 1966. When he was drafted (on their wedding day), she followed him to his permanent assignment in Ft. Gulick, Panama.
After Mike's service, she worked for Western Electric for 2 years until welcoming their only child, Michele in 1970. From then on, she was a devoted mother and homemaker. A talented cook, seamstress, painter, and gardener, she blessed her family generously with her gifts.
Dianne served her community for a short time as a Holly Springs City Councilwoman. She was a dedicated softball mom for many years, keeping score, providing rides and snacks, and taking care of the players and families with love.
Her family was her greatest treasure. Dianne was a devoted caretaker to her parents until their passing. "Grammy/Noggy" spoiled her five grandchildren thoroughly. Every birthday and holiday was a special celebration filled with wonderful memories and amazing food. To have been loved by Dianne was a great blessing, and she will be missed terribly.
Dianne is survived by her husband of 56 years, Michael McFarland, Holly Springs, GA, daughter Michele (Robert) Roman, Canton, GA, grandchildren Hannah, Joe, Elizabeth, Paul, Hope, and sisters Bonnie (Bud) Hill, and Carol (Cecil) Nelson, as well as beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vonceil and D.J. McCurley, Jr., and sister, Linda McCurley Burton Babcock.
