Elizabeth Welch (affectionately known as Cookie), 82, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. She was born on December 14, 1943 in Camden, New Jersey.
Elizabeth met the love of her life, Leroy Welch, Sr. in Camden, NJ and they were married in 1963. Together they raised three children and built a life anchored in family, faith, and humor. She was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist church under the leadership of Pastor John O Parker Jr. and served as a greeter. Elizabeth was active with the Crock Center Ministry and the Camden City Senior Office on Aging. After decades in Camden, Elizabeth relocated to Georgia in 2022 to be closer to family.
A dedicated and skilled manufacturing specialist, Elizabeth worked for The Philadelphia Handle Company before retiring. She carried the same steady spirit into every part of her life—showing up, working hard, and loving the people around her without hesitation.
She is survived by her children, Violet Marie Baker of Woodstock, GA, Leroy Welch Jr of Kennesaw, GA and Andrew (Tannish) Welch of Woodstock, GA; her brother, James Green of Columbus, OH; grandchildren Brandon Welch, Tiana Welch, Tamara Kinnard, Tariah Welch, David Welch and Taya Welch; and great-grandson—Brandon Welch Jr; sister in laws Lillian Bryant of Decatur, GA; Bernice Paul of Locust Grove, GA; Pat Baker of Camden, NJ and Virginia Green of Columbus, OH. She is preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Wise of Camden, NJ; brothers John King of Fayetteville, NC; Anthony Baker, Willie Baker, and Robert Baker of Camden, NJ;. She also leaves behind a wide circle of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends who cherished her deeply.
The family of Elizabeth Welch extends heartfelt thanks for the kindness shown during this time of loss. We are especially grateful to Antioch Baptist Church (Camden, NJ), Hickory Log Baptist Church (Canton, GA), and her friends at Hearthside Smyrna and Hearthside Towne Lake for loving and supporting us and to every family member who checked in on her.
She gave us life. Her smile made us smile. Her silliness rubbed off on all and she was famous for throwing shade.
Mom Mom had a village surrounding her—family, friends, and even strangers couldn't help but to notice her beauty both inside and out.
