Elizabeth Marie Wilson, age 74, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026. She was born on January 8, 1951, in Budapest, Hungary, to Erzsebet Szigeti and Dezso Bereczky.

Elizabeth's life was shaped early by courage and resilience. At just five years old, during the Russian Revolution of 1956, she and her father escaped on foot from Hungary to a refugee camp in Austria, beginning a journey that would eventually lead them to the United States. Together, they built a new life in a new land, and Elizabeth later became a proud American citizen. Her story was one of perseverance, gratitude, and quiet strength.

Above all else, Elizabeth loved her family—especially her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life and the center of her world. Any moment she wasn't working was spent with them, loving them fiercely and completely. She also found peace and happiness in gardening, tending to her plants with the same patience and care she gave to those she loved.

Elizabeth was a devoted mother, grandmother, and wife, whose life was marked by sacrifice, devotion, and an enduring love that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Jonathan Wilson of Woodstock, Georgia; her daughter, Christine Wilson of Woodstock, Georgia; and her two beloved grandsons, Brody Dezso Wilson and Lucas Grant Wilson, who were her greatest pride and blessing.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Chester John Wilson Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 15, 2025, in the Chapel of Darby Funeral Home, with interment to follow at the Georgia National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the service hour.

Elizabeth Marie Wilson will be remembered for her brave spirit, gentle heart, and the deep, unconditional love she gave to her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the family she cherished so dearly.
