Florence Geneva Garrett Clark, 87, of Canton (Hickory Flat Community) passed away March 9, 2009. A lifelong resident of Cherokee County, Georgia, she was born on November 18, 1921, the daughter of Robert Harley Garrett and Laura Jane Owen Garrett.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, James (Horace) Clark and great grandchild, Madison Brown, brothers: Reuben Lloyd Garrett and Jesse Thomas Garrett and sister, Ruby Lucille Haley.
Survivors are sons: William Kenneth "Ken" and Linda Clark of White, Ga., James Robert and Teddy Clark of Blairsville, Ga. 5 grand-children: Bill Clark, Sheree Keeling, Jim Clark, Jonathan Clark and Jared Clark. 13 great grandchildren. Brother: William "Bill" Garrett. Sisters: Ruth Nichols (Ed), Panama City, Fla., Betty Manous (Buren), Canton, and special loving and caring nieces, great nieces and nephews.
Florence served as lunch room manager of Hickory Flat Elementary School for several decades. Her devotion for her family, her church and her community was overwhelming.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 11, 2009, 2 pm-4 pm. and 6 pm -8 pm at Darby Huey Funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Mount Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Mulkey and Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Interment at Cherokee Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mount Zion Baptist Church Building Fund.
