Frances Carpenter Fincher (95) of Canton was born January 26, 1918 and passed away peacefully at her home July 24, 2013. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, July 26 at 2PM from the Chapel of Canton 1st United Methodist Church. Rev. Floyd Tenney and Rev. Jim McRae will officiate. Visitation will be 1PM-8PM Thursday and Friday 10AM to 1PM.
She was preceded in death by her loving Husband, R.O. Fincher Jr.; Son "Bobby" Fincher; Sister, Vivian Cook and Brother, Deems Carpenter. She is survived by her Daughter & Son-in-Law, Sheree & Lamar Sawyer; Daughter-in-law Karen Hightower; Sisters, Martha Moore Hightower and Betty Ann Callahan; Grandchildren, Hughes Sawyer, Machelle Powell, Lewellyn S. Payne , Anthony Payne, Lynne F. Maxwell , Billy Maxwell, Bobby Fincher, Miriam Fincher. Great-grandchildren, Nicholas Sawyer, Tiffany Powell, Christian Payne, Alexander Payne, Ashton McCormick, Carter Fincher and Ella Fincher. Frances was born in Waleska, GA, where she attended Reinhart College, Grade 1-Junior College all in the same building. Graduated in 1936, taught school for a short time at Sharp Top in Waleska, GA. She married R.D. in 1938, they bought the Western Auto Store that they ran for 35 years. In 1942 R.O. went in the Army during WW ll, where he was wounded severely in Italy in 1944.
