Garvis Davis of Eastman, Georgia, passed away peacefully at McRae Manor Nursing Home in McRae, Georgia on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Paul Davis, Sr.; brother, Paul Davis Jr.; and sisters, Bertie Clark and Shirley Caylor.

Garvis was born in Marietta, Georgia on July 7, 1936. As a truck driver, he traveled all the United States except Alaska and Hawaii. Garvis later worked in construction. He was known for his sense of humor and his love for his family. He enjoyed playing cards, learning to fly a small plane, spending time with his horses, his chickens, family gatherings, playing with his great-grandkids, and, most of all, his beloved wife, Johnnie.

Garvis is survived by his loving wife, Johnnie Hall Davis; step children, Kay Ross (Don), Fay Marcy, Donnie Taylor (Mary Jo), and Paulette Bottasso (Mark); He was loved by his 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Garvis is also survived by his sisters, Martha McTaggart, Paulette Tucker, Angie Davis; brothers, Bill Davis, Larry Davis, Ronnie Davis, Donnie Davis, Rick Davis and Bob Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Darby Funeral Home in Canton, Georgia is in charge of the funeral arrangements. A graveside service will be held at Georgia Memorial Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 1:00 pm.
