Gayle Elaine (Tomlin) Goodwin, age 79 of Canton passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Northside Cherokee Hospital following a brief illness.
Gayle was born July 3, 1941 in Cullman, Alabama, daughter of the late J.L. and Louise Tomlin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William O. Goodwin. She was a longtime member of the Woodstock Church of Christ, and an ardent supporter of their India Mission work.
She is survived by daughter Wanda (Lamar) Russell; daughter Jennifer (Brian) Chambers; granddaughter Stephanie (Jeremy) Roberts; grandson Stephen Russell; granddaughter Lacey (Will) Albright; great-granddaughters Caidyn and Cayleigh Forrester; sister Phyllis (Bill) West; brother Michael Tomlin; along with several nieces and nephews.
Gayle, lovingly known as Meme, was a creative and talented woman with many hobbies including painting, sewing and floral arranging, as well as being an avid reader. She enjoyed entertaining in her home, hosting many gatherings with her Christian friends. Family was very important to her and she loved having them all together especially during the holidays. Gayle was cherished by her children and grandchildren and will be missed by many loved ones and friends.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020, 7 pm, at the Woodstock Church of Christ with Lamar Russell and Matt Amos officiating. Visitation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Woodstock Church of Christ India Missions.
