Obituary of Gordon Dion SledgeGordon Dion Sledge, age 61, of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, March 21, 2026.Born on December 7, 1964, in Arab, Alabama, Dion was the son of Barbara Ann Richards and Gordon Sledge. He carried with him throughout his life a quiet strength, a kind heart, and a deep love for his family.Dion was a devoted son, father, brother, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving mother, Barbara Ann Richards of Ringgold, Georgia; his father, Gordon Sledge; his sons, Joshua Sledge of Ringgold, Georgia, and Logan Hopkins of Huntsville, Alabama; and his daughter, Autumn Faith (Blake) Potter of Georgia. He is also survived by his brother, John Sledge of Canton, Georgia; his sisters, Paula (Joe) Kincaid of Ellijay, Georgia, and Natasha Sledge of Huntsville, Alabama; and six cherished grandchildren who brought him immense pride and joy.He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ricky Richards, and his stepmother, Dorothy Sledge.Dion will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for his family, and the quiet ways he showed care and devotion to those around him. Whether through shared stories, simple moments, or unwavering support, he left a lasting mark on the hearts of those who knew him.A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Darby Funeral Home, with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel.Though he may be gone from our sight, his memory will live on in the love he gave and the lives he touched.
