Grace Ann Reeves's Obituary

Grace Ann Reeves (Plavcan), 84, was born in Youngstown, Ohio on August 1, 1924. Grace was a resident of Georgia for over 55 years, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009 with her loving family by her side.

Grace was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roland "Ted" Reeves, her parents John and Anna Plavcan, and her brother Robert "Bob" Plavcan.  Survivors include her three children: Tim Reeves, Roland Reeves, Patricia Reeves (Hank Mathis), five granddaughters: Kristy Pittaluga (Joe Pittaluga), Allison Dupree, Ashley Reeves, Lauren Stine and Adrienne Reeves. Two great grandsons: Bradly and Branson Dupree. Brothers: George, John and Vincent (Loretta) Plavcan.  Special friend David Fendley and her most loved Malti-poo "Winston," with whom she shared a birthday.

Grace worked at the Grand Palace Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio during her twenties.  She met many celebrities and collected quite a few autographs, including one from Glenn Miller.  Grace married when she was 24 to her blind date, Ted Reeves.  As they danced throughout the night, he said he wanted her to be the mother of his children, and then he called her Alice for the rest of the evening.  She didn't correct him because she didn't think they would see each other again.  They got married a year later and shared 35 happily married years together.  She then worked as a "Household Executive" for the family. Grace and Ted had three children and many beloved friends from their Hyland Drive neighborhood in Decatur.

"She made me smile" was what Grace wanted to be remembered by all who knew her.  Up to her last breath, her sense of humor was still present, and she made us smile through our tears.  She sends all her love to family and friends.  She was truly our "Amazing Grace."

Memorial Services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at First United Methodist Church of Canton, 10:00 am visitation, 11:00 service.
