With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Gregory Steven Ellis, a devoted son, brother, and proud sailor of the United States Navy. Gregory left this world far too soon on February 2, 2025, at the age of 20.
Born on July 26, 2004, Gregory grew up in Johns Creek, Georgia, where he developed a deep love for the ocean, adventure, and the bonds of family and friendship. He was a passionate surfer, an avid fisherman, a fearless hiker, and someone who found solace in the rhythm of the waves. Whether riding his motorcycle, admiring classic muscle cars, or enjoying time with his closest friends, Gregory lived life with enthusiasm and a kind heart.
Gregory's dedication to service led him to the United States Navy, where he embraced the call of duty with honor and commitment. He carried with him the values of integrity, strength, and loyalty—traits that defined both his military service and his personal life.
He is survived by his loving parents, Sherry Ellis and Aric Ellis of Johns Creek, GA; his sister, Jessica Ellis of Johns Creek, GA; his step-grandfather, Robert Herak of Cleveland, OH; his grandfather, Gilbert Ellis of Palmyra, VA; his step-grandmother, Meg Gore; his uncle, Ronald Ellis of Tipp City, OH; his grandfather, Joseph Sefcik of Medina, OH; and his grandmother, Shirley Solymossy of Davenport, IA. Gregory's adventurous spirit, unwavering kindness, and deep love for his family and friends will never be forgotten. Though his time with us was far too short, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Fair winds and following seas, Gregory. Your watch has ended, but your legacy sails on.
