Hazel Marie Davis, 91 of East Ellijay, GA., passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Northside Hospital Cherokee. Visitation will be Thursday, October 17th from 4-8pm at Darby Funeral Home. The funeral will be Friday, October 18th at 9am in the chapel of Darby Funeral Home with Rev. Reuben Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery at 11am.
Hazel Davis left our earthly bounds to be with her God and Savior on October 12, 2024. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family after a brief illness. Mrs. Davis was the devoted wife of 60 years to William H. Davis Sr. of Ellijay Georgia. She was an active military career wife supporting Mr. Davis's service in the Army, Army Air Corp, US Airforce and Military Civil Service for more than 45 years. In her early youth she worked as a farm hand on her parent's Tobacco farm in Abingdon Va. Her work ethic was early to bed and early to rise and maintained this regiment until she passed. She led an active lifestyle at the Manor Lake Senior Living Center, Ellijay Ga and enjoyed the benefits of a caring staff.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William H. Davis, Sr., brother, Eugene Moore of Charlottesville, VA., her sister, Wanda Odegaard of NM., her brother, Rufus F. Moore of Abingdon, VA., her brother, Verlin N. Moore of Abington, VA. She is survived by:
Son - Benny Davis of Canton, GA.
Son - Henry Davis of Birmingham, AL.
Daughter - Gwen (Tommy) Partain of Auburn, GA.
Daughter - Linda Stancil of Morganton, GA.
Daughter - Audrey (Steve) Allmon of Indian Land, SC.
Daughter - Cindy Scott of Canton, GA.
Brother - Harold Moore of Castlewood, VA.
Brother - Alan Wayne Moore of Oklahoma City, OK.
Brother - James Odell Moore of Charlotte, NC.
Sister - Brenda Middleton of Abingdon, VA.
Sister - Genevieve Garrison of TN.
2 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews also survive.
