Obituary

Hazel Mae Long, who had bravely battled cancer, passed away on April 1, 2026.


Born on May 8, 1951, in Gwinnett County to the late Homer and Annie Long, Hazel grew up in Roswell and proudly graduated from Roswell High School. She was known for her free spirit and her constant readiness for new adventures. Hazel marched to the beat of her own drum. She loved music, horses, and she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.


Her final wishes included a selfless act of donating her body to Emory for research, hoping to one day help others.


Hazel was loved by her family and will be dearly missed.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her daughter Teresa Ann Long & daughter-in-law Allene V. Maxcy, brother & sister-in-law Homer ‘Junior’ & (Myrtice) Long. Sister & brother-in-law Lois & (Harold) Cornwell, & sister Jewel Jackson.


She is survived by her children: Ronald Phillips, Jane Phillips & (Joe St. John), Decenda & (Jason) Smith, Jody & (Krystal) Phillips. Grandchildren: Geanette and (Greg)Lashuay, Amanda Turner & (Beto) Saucedo, Kyle and (Skydra)Martin, Amber Phillips and (Ricardo Preciado) Dylan and (Natalie) Phillips, Samuel Smith, Sevanna St. John, Matthew St. John, Tyler Stewart, Mackenzie Phillips, LeAngel Stewart, Elijah Phillips, Elisha Phillips& Justin Ruis. Siblings: Robert and (Barbara) Long, William and (Darlene) Long, Annette Goodman. Several great grandchild, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends also survived.


A private service will be held for the family at a later time.
