Hubert Kenneth “Bud” Lindsey, 86, of Canton, Georgia, entered his eternal rest on April 27, 2026. Born on January 12, 1940, in Frostproof, Florida, Bud lived a life marked by devotion to his faith, to his family, and to serving others with compassion and humility.
Bud was the son of Hubert Talmadge Lindsey and Lydia Eugene Helms Lindsey, and the brother of Barbara Jean Lindsey Maxwell. He graduated from the University of Florida and served his country as a Medical Service Specialist in the United States Air Force, a role that reflected his lifelong devotion to care for others. Following his military service, Bud built a successful career with Harris/Lanier Business Products, and later as an entrepreneur who created Executive Central and owned Personal Secretary along with his wife, Elaine.
In every season of his life, Bud sought to honor God and share the love of Jesus Christ. His faith shaped his character and guided his actions. He was deeply involved in Baptist missions, specifically focused in Ukraine and Kenya. He served faithfully with Gideons International and volunteered his time and heart at Whispering Hope Women’s Resource & Pregnancy Center. His generous spirit and compassion impacted so many people.
Bud was diagnosed with prostate cancer at age 56. He fought the disease for thirty years using every medical defense available to him and through consistent prayer. He knew God’s hand was always holding him, and ultimately, the cancer did not win.
Bud shared 52 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Barbara Elaine Charping Lindsey, with whom he built a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering commitment. Together they raised three children—Tyler Talmadge Lindsey (Jennifer), Melissa DeLane Lindsey Hornsby (David), and Clayton Kenneth Lindsey (Ginger)—who carry forward his legacy of integrity, kindness, and faith.
He was a proud grandfather to Lydia Elizabeth Lindsey Abercrombie (Jacob), Jonathan Luke Lindsey (Carla), Makayla Shaye Hornsby, Lila Hope Hornsby, Jackson Helms Lindsey, Jordan Leigh Ann Lindsey, Judah Wiley Lindsey, and Jeda Lane Lindsey; and a delighted great‑grandfather to James Weston Abercrombie and Juniper Elaine Abercrombie. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Jean Lindsey Maxwell; nieces Mitzi Marie Maxwell and Suzanne Kimet Maxwell Liberty (Frank); and many other family members who cherished him.
Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Elaine Charping Lindsey, and by his parents, Hubert Talmadge Lindsey and Lydia Eugene Helms Lindsey.
A funeral service honoring Bud’s life will be held on May 12, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Darby Funeral Home, 480 E Main St., Canton, Georgia, with Dr. David Mullis officiating. The private interment will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. He will be placed next to his beloved wife, Elaine.
Bud Lindsey lived with purpose, loved without hesitation, and served with a heart anchored in faith. His legacy endures in the lives he touched and the family who loved him dearly.
The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Hubert Kenneth "Bud" Lindsey.
