Jackie Marie Farris Jones was born in Uvalde, TX, January 2, 1929 to Robert C. Farris and Dr. Reba Carder Farris. She was raised in Del Rio, TX and married the late James Frederick Jones, son of Senator and Mrs. Charles. R. Jones of Bonham, TX, January 27, 1951.
Jackie earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the University of Texas, Austin, 1952 where she was an honor student and was chosen 1950 Sweetheart of her sorority, Alpha Phi; 1950 Sweetheart of the University of Texas, and1951 Cotton Bowl Queen.
In 1957, Mrs. Jones and family moved to Atlanta, GA where she attended Georgia State University, studying post graduate journalism and was a Merritt College Communications Instructor. She was active in Wieuca Road Baptist Church and was her church's Coordinator for Morningside Homeless Shelter.
Mrs. Jones is survived by children Jim F. Jones, Jr., J. Charisse Jones Moore, Rev. Keith K. Jones, grandchildren Erin C. Moore, Charles B. J. Moore, great granddaughter Isabelle D. Moore and a sister Lura Lea Pyeatt.
