With deep gratitude for a life well lived, the family of James Leon Bobo, age 84, of Canton, Georgia, announces his peaceful passing on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at his home surrounded by loved ones.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Darby Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Caylor and Rev. David Byess officiating. Interment will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park in Canton.
The family will receive friends at Darby Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
Leon, a devoted husband of 64 years, built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. He was a source of wisdom, kindness, and quiet integrity to all who knew him.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Sara “Sally” Lathem Bobo; sons, Jimmy (Loretta) Bobo and David (Pam) Bobo; grandchildren, Alexandra (Aaron) McGowen, Sara (Jay) McCloskey, Lauren Bobo, and Rebekah Bobo; brothers, Alan (Jenny) Bobo and Elwin Bobo; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Leon will be remembered throughout the community for his strong work ethic and his care for others. He worked for Lockheed Martin before becoming an independent builder. His leadership and service extended beyond his career — he served on the Cherokee County Water Authority, was President of the Cherokee County Home Builders Association, and was a faithful member of Canton First Baptist Church.
Outside of his professional and community life, Leon enjoyed classic cars and NASCAR, hobbies that reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship and tradition.
Above all, Leon will be remembered as a man who loved deeply. His love for his family, faith, and community leaves a lasting legacy in the hearts of those he touched.
He will be dearly missed and forever cherished.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made in his memory to Rock Springs Baptist Church (c/o Craig Wold, 1550 Kraft Trail, Canton, GA 30115).
The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. James Leon Bobo.
