James Dorsey (Jim) Carnes, Jr. of Canton, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Northside Hospital Cherokee surrounded by family.

Jim was born to the late James Dorsey (Buster) Carnes, Sr. and Jeanne Arnold Carnes (Shiretzki) and preceded in death by brother Robert Anderw (Andy) Carnes.

Jim is survived by his wife, Carla W. Carnes of Canton, Georgia, whom he loved very much. He is also survived by sister, Stella C. (Danny) Vaughan; brother, David A. (Margo) Carnes; stepdaughter, Kelly (Kevin) Moss and step grandson, Owen Moss; niece, Julie Vaughan; nephew, Joseph (Cynthia) Vaughan and Marshall; nephew, Brian Carnes and nephew John (Alicia) Davis and Charlie Mae; Bill Daniel, cousin.

Jim will be remembered mostly by family and friends as someone who loved to play with his dogs and tinker with clocks. He also enjoyed watching Owen, who he considered his grandchild, participate in school sports. At an early age his love of music was obvious by his playing in the high school marching band and singing in the church choir. His memory will be kept in the hearts of those who knew him.
