James David Cox's Obituary
James David "Jim" Cox, age 81, of Canton, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at his residence after a battle with pneumonia.
Jim was born on April 11, 1944, in Gadsden, Alabama. He lived in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority. In 1994, he moved to Panama City Beach, Florida, where he resided until 2022. He most recently lived in Canton, Georgia, for the past three years.
Jim graduated from Auburn University in March 1976 with a Bachelor of Industrial Management. He was also a dedicated amateur radio operator (K4JAF), a hobby he enjoyed since 1959.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Acton C. Cox and Eula H. Cox.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Melvin of Canton, Georgia; his daughter, Susan Hawkins Cutroni of West Palm Beach, Florida; his sister, Eleanor Hawkins of Huntsville, Alabama; and his grandchildren, Justin Hawkins, Kyle Hawkins, and Meghan Hawkins.
Jim will be deeply missed.
