James Marion Stovall, Jr., age 80, of Canton, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Manor Lake Assisted Living - BridgeMill.
Born on January 16, 1946, in Canton, James was the son of the late James Marion Stovall and Stella Herndon Burnett. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who loved his family dearly.
James is survived by his loving wife, Melinda Stovall of Canton, Georgia; daughter, Shana (John) Ludington of Jasper, Georgia; sons, Paul (Milly) Stovall of Abbeville, South Carolina, Lynn (Teresa) Stovall of Robbinsville, North Carolina, Rocky (Stephanie) Stovall of Jasper, Georgia, Rodney Stovall of Panama City, Florida, Jimmy Stovall of Jackson, New Jersey, and Timmy (Theresa) Stovall of Ranger, Georgia; 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Dennis Stovall of Canton, Georgia, and Ann (Ed) Roland of Canton, Georgia.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his siblings, Tim Stovall and Peggy Stovall.
Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of Darby Funeral Home on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. A graveside service will follow the funeral at 2:00 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of James Marion Stovall, Jr.
