Jane Ellen McLendon, 78 of Beaufort, SC, formerly of Seneca, SC, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the Resort of Beaufort.

Jane was born on May 6, 1945, the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Helen (Mitchell) Stancil. She graduated from Georgia Academy for the Blind at Macon in 1967. Early in her adult life, she worked as an X-ray technician at Cobb General Hospital in Georgia. After getting married, she became a full-time, stay-at-home mom to daughter, Dannie Jo and son, Glen Owen. She enjoyed attending her church and loved singing hymns. More than once, she read the entire Bible in Braille and also listened to it on CD. She was an avid reader of many books written in Braille.

Jane was preceded in death by her son, Glen Owen McLendon and her grandson, Michael Lee Wilson. Survivors include: her daughter: Dannie Jo "DJ" Wilson; granddaughter: McKenzie Ann Wilson; sisters: Carolyn Voyles and Katherine Whitehead; along with several nieces and nephews.

A small, private graveside service will be held Sunday, February 18. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Benevolence Fund at The Baptist Church of Beaufort.
