Jeffrey Mark Yother, age 78, of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence on the morning of Monday, April 20, 2026.
Born on October 7, 1947, at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, Jeffrey was the son of the late Mark and Adelaide Yother. He graduated from Briarcliff High School in Atlanta, Georgia and the University of Georgia. He lived a fiercely independent and adventurous life, and was loved by many.
Jeff proudly served his country as an officer in the United States Army. His greatest passion was sailing, and he spent several years cruising the Caribbean and Europe, visiting dozens of countries and completing an Atlantic crossing as Captain of his beloved Tayana 37 boat, the J. D. Leadbelly.
Later, Jeffrey worked with the American Red Cross as a coordinator for disaster relief efforts, helping communities in times of dire need. He spent many years in boat sales, where he was known for his expertise and countless stories from his travels. As he approached retirement, Jeff worked as a school bus driver for Fulton County Schools.
He is survived by his son, Nicholas Mark Yother (Rachel); his daughter, Michelle Yother Andrews (Daniel); his grandchildren, Elliot Andrews, Archer Andrews, Olivia Nash, and Finleigh Nash. He is preceded in death by his sister, Stephanie White. He will be remembered with love.
