Jill Ann Paton, 77, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends in Canton, Georgia leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and accomplishment.
Born on July 20, 1948, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan, Jill was the daughter of Frank “Bud” Ross and Lynne Ross. She was raised in Michigan and graduated from Hillsdale College before embarking on a successful and distinguished career with AT&T. As an executive, she earned the respect and admiration of colleagues through her leadership, professionalism, and dedication.
Jill was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her loving mother, Lynne Ross; her sister, Susan Owens; her brother, Bob Ross (Jennifer); her sons, Mark Paton (Dana) and Scott Paton (Shannon); her beloved grandchildren, Griffin, Brandon, Owen, Ava, Austin, Mitchell and JJ and great grandchildren, Nathan, Briggs, Emory, Harper and Karson. Nieces; Kimberley and Jennifer And nephews; Jay and Danny. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank “Bud” Ross.
Outside of her professional accomplishments, Jill embraced life with enthusiasm and grace. She loved traveling and exploring new destinations, finding joy in discovering different cultures and experiences. She was an excellent cook who delighted in bringing family and friends together around her table. Jill treasured her friendships, especially the many wonderful memories shared with her dear friends, Carol and Gerry Moore, and countless others throughout her life.
Those who knew Jill will remember her intelligence, resilience, kindness, quick wit, and unwavering love for her family. She took immense pride in her children and grandchildren and found great happiness in their accomplishments and milestones. Her warmth, generosity, and strength touched the lives of many and will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Jill will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she enriched.
Forever in our hearts, her memory will remain a source of comfort, inspiration, and love.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Canton First Methodist Church on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow immediately after the service in the Fellowship Hall. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jill’s life and share memories of the remarkable woman she was.
Another service and celebration of life will be held in Michigan at a later date.
