Jim Boswell, age 71, of Waleska passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 after a prolonged illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Vickie Cline Boswell of Waleska; daughters, Kimberly (Britt) Jones of Rome; Kayelyn Boswell of Forest City, NC; Beth (Jason) Watkins of Waleska; and Brittany (Bryan) Phillips of Canton. He is also survived by Lee Hughes of Waleska; brothers, Jerome Boswell of Kingston and John Wilkins of Calhoun; sister, Carol Butler of Rome; and eight grandchildren.
Jim served for 34 years with the Georgia State Patrol, attaining the rank of Captain and serving as Commander of Troop A, which covers a 14-county area in northwest Georgia. Prior to beginning his career in law enforcement, he served with honor in the United States Army, including a tour of duty in Germany.
A good neighbor and a faithful member of Heritage Baptist Fellowship, he was devoted to God, his family and his friends. Before his illness, he was rarely idle. He enjoyed working on the family farm and at home, tending to his livestock and spending time with family, especially at the beach.
He loved and was loved by people from all walks of life.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Darby Funeral Home in Canton. The funeral service will be on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Fellowship in Canton, with Rev. Rob Nash and Rev. Matt Sapp officiating. Interment will take place on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery, with Rev. Nathan Brandon officiating.
