Obituary for Jimmy Lee Richards

Jimmy Lee Richards, 76, of Canton, Georgia, passed away on September 25, 2025.

Jimmy was born on December 14, 1948, in Canton, Georgia, to Myrtle Watkins and Herschel Richards. On January 17, 1968, he married the love of his life, Linda Dianne Watkins. Together they shared 57 years of love, laughter, and countless adventures.

Jimmy was a hardworking man who built and operated his own business, Richards Electric, for over 45 years. Beyond his work, he was known for his generous heart and his quiet strength. He never missed an opportunity to help someone in need and was admired for never speaking an unkind word about anyone.

An outdoorsman at heart, Jimmy loved fishing, hunting, and traveling. He was especially proud to serve as captain of his nieces' and nephews' high school fishing teams. He also enjoyed hunting pheasant in South Dakota, taking cruises with Linda, camping, and their memorable trips to Hawaii. Some of his happiest days were spent on day trips with Linda to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where they always stopped at their favorite restaurant, Huck Finn's, for frog legs.

Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Linda Dianne Richards of Canton, GA; his brothers Freddie Richards of Georgia and Bruce (Vickie) Richards of Cumming, GA; and his sister Margaret Richards and her husband Rick Gaddis of Canton, GA. He will be dearly missed by his extended family, many friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 27, from the Chapel of Darby Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Macedonia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 26, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour.

Jimmy's life was defined by love for his family, devotion to his work, and joy in the simple adventures of life. His legacy will live on in the many lives he touched.
