Joe Dewey Manous' Obituary

Joe D. Manous, a successful business leader, entrepreneur, and community leader, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, in his home. Joe is remembered as an individual who did not shy away from hard work and unwaveringly provided for his children, parents, and other family members.

Born and raised in Canton, GA., Joe was a graduate of Canton High School, where he played football and basketball. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps working in military intelligence. After his service, he pursued higher education using the GI Bill, attending North Georgia College and the Georgia Institute of Technology. It was at North Georgia College that he met Barbara Love, whom he later married.

Joe was a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Stepanie Manous. He is survived by his former spouse, Barbara Manous and three children, Joe D. Manous, Jr., Judy M. (Gary) Tallent, and Sam T. (Janna) Manous, along with nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A man of remarkable ambition, Joe built a highly successful career as a sales agent for State Farm Insurance, becoming one of the largest salesmen in the Southeastern United States during his 40-year tenure. He successfully established multiple thriving businesses, including sod farming and cattle ranching. No matter what the endeavor, he pursued excellence with drive and passion.

Beyond business, Joe was actively engaged in his community. He was involved with Jaycees and played active role in local and state politics. His reputation for honesty in all dealings was a defining characteristic, earning him the trust of colleagues, clients, and friends alike.

Joe's life was a testament to the values of hard work, integrity, and family. He will be remembered for his enduring impact on those with whom he worked and supported.
