Mr. John Frank Johnson, age 91, of Canton passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024. He was a member of Arbor Hill Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Marthaleen Haley Johnson. Frank Johnson was born and raised in the Avery community. He was number five of ten brothers and sisters. Frank and his brothers were always into mischief, while his sisters were always looking after them. When he was 18, he married the love of his life, Marthalene. Right after the "I do's", he joined the Army to serve and protect the country he loved.
Frank and Marthy, as he always called her, had two baby girls that made their family complete. They had many friends and family that they made lots of memories with throughout the years. He spent his days at Lockheed and his evenings and weekends with his most prized possessions. No, not his daughters, his mules. Together, Frank and his mules won many blue ribbons, traveled to the Amish country, and were even part of the wagon train from Dahlonega to Atlanta. He was an avid farmer who had chicken houses, horses, and raised cattle. He loved it so much that he even bought another farm in Alabama. He kept the roads hot between the two.
You never saw Frank without a big chaw of tobacco in his mouth. He loved his family and they loved their Pop. He loved Alabama football, coconut pudding, and barking out orders to everyone around him. You knew if Frank was giving you a hard time, it was a sure sign that he liked you. The Lord broke the mold when he made Frank and there will never be another one like him. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 2pm at Arbor Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Casey Martin, Rev. Geral Richards and Rev. Doug Carnes officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 6, 2024 from 6-9, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 2-9 and Wednesday, from 11 till time of the service.
