Johnnie Lester Whitley, 95, died Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Brian's Center, Canton, Ga. She was born in Franklin, Ga., April 23, 1921. However, sh lived almost all of her life in Atlanta.
She retired from Southern Bell after 38 years' service where she was a supervisor for several commercial offices. She was a member of The Baptist Tabernacle and Morningside Baptist Church. She was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star for over 60 years and also a Daughter of the Nile.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Margaret Whitley of Canton; granddaughters, Mrs. Jean Sears of Woodstock, and Mrs. Scarlett Ollila of Canton; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; two nephews and a niece.
Memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 27 at Morningside Baptist Church at 11 o'clock. Visitation will be in the parlor of the church one hour before the service. The burial will be in Franklin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Morningside Baptist Church, 1700 Piedmont Avenue, NE, Atlanta, Ga. 30324.
