Obituary

Jonnie Turner Robertson, age 86, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Cameron Hall Assisted Living in Canton. She was born September 21, 1930 to the late John Buster and Alice Hester Turner. She was preceded in death by siblings Edward Turner, Nellie Holcomb, and Ozell Blackwell. She is survived by daughters Janice (Larry) Prather and Judy Thomas; grandchildren Jodi (Spence) Sears, Justin (Kristen) Thomas, and Julie (Billy) Peppers; great-grandchildren Jackson Sears, Pierson Sears, Julia Hope Sears, Turner Peppers, Jennings Peppers, and Caroline Thomas; sister-in-law Carolyn White Turner; longtime care provider Natalie Riley; and, her beloved dog, Bailey. She was a fourth-generation lifelong resident of Cherokee County. She as a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Ball Ground and in more recent years a member of Riverdale Church in Canton. She was a graduate of Canton High School and attended Pickens Technical School. Her career included employment with Cherokee County Schools and the US Postal System. She enjoyed gardening, gospel music (especially the New Hope Church Singers), playing Bingo, and assisting with volunteer and community projects. She was an avid sports fan, especially with events involving her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A graveside service led by Rev. Edwin Weaver will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Ball Ground City Cemetery. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Darby Funeral Home in Canton. Special gratitude is expressed for the compassionate care provided by the staff at Cameron Hall. Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Darby Funeral Home in Canton.
