Joy Lou Carnley
October 8, 1941 – March 31, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Joy Lou Carnley, who departed this life peacefully at her residence on March 31, 2025. Born on October 8, 1941, in St. Cloud, FL, to Willadean and Willard Thomas, Joy lived a life full of love, adventure, and cherished moments with family.
Joy found happiness in the simple pleasures of life—reading a good book, shopping for treasures, and sharing meals with loved ones. She had a deep love for traveling, and among her many adventures, Ireland held a special place in her heart. Her warm spirit and love for family created a legacy that will be remembered for generations to come.
She is survived by her loving children: Tim Sherman (Dana) of Canton, GA; Jerry Guernsey (Misty) of Sanford, NC; Darlene Guernsey (Steve) of San Antonio, TX; and Kimberly Sherman (Sean) of Marietta, GA. She is also survived by her dear sister, Faye Fannin of Lakeland, FL, as well as her 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor and cherish the beautiful life she lived.
Though she is no longer with us, her love, kindness, and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
