Judith Few Pope ("Judy"), 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 7, 2025. Judy was born on October 18, 1943, in Pickens, South Carolina. She graduated from Pickens County High School where she was a majorette in the marching band and a member of the basketball and track teams. Judy went on to study music at Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina. After graduation in 1965, Judy moved to Canton, Georgia, where she taught music at Cherokee High School. Shortly thereafter, and with the assistance of friends Bill and Sylvia Teasley, she met her husband of more than 58 years, Judge Marion T. Pope, Jr. Judy attended First Baptist Church of Canton where she sang in the choir and was a regular soloist. She enjoyed competitive tennis, gardening, working in the yard, cheering for the Clemson Tigers and Atlanta Falcons, and spending time at the beach with her family.
Judy is survived by her husband, Judge Marion T. Pope, Jr.; her sister and brother, Carolyn Yarborough and Ron Few; her children: Marion T. Pope III (Meredith), Jonathan A. Pope (Amy), and Jennifer L. Pope; and her grandchildren: Jonathan A. Pope, Jr. ("Andrew"), Caroline N. Pope, Olivia A. Pope, and Marion T. Pope IV ("Thomas").
Visitation will be at Darby Funeral Home Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A funeral will be held at the chapel of Darby Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025.
