Julia Dianne Nitschke
January 12, 1944 – July 30, 2025
Julia Dianne Nitschke, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on July 30, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in Blairsville, Georgia, to Sarah Nell Patterson Hudson and Carter Reed Hudson, Dianne lived a life grounded in faith, love, and service to others.
Dianne devoted her professional life to teaching, shaping young minds with patience, kindness, and a deep sense of purpose. Her heart, however, was always with her family and her community. She and her husband, Dale Robert Nitschke, were longtime active members of Hickory Flat United Methodist Church in Canton, Georgia. Together, they chaired the church's Habitat for Humanity program, mentored youth through decades of retreats and mission trips, and lived out their faith in action.
Dianne and Dale built five homes through Habitat for Humanity, including one special mission where they delivered food to Mississippi and helped rebuild a family's home over several months. Their tireless dedication left a lasting legacy of compassion and hope.
A gifted gardener, Dianne found joy in flowers and the simple pleasure of growing and freezing blueberries—especially for her grandchildren, who were the delight of her life. Her gentle spirit, loving heart, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband of many years, Dale Robert Nitschke of Woodstock, GA; her son, Brent Robert Nitschke (Dawn) of Atlanta, GA; her daughter, Ivie Sarah Goorsky of Duluth, GA; her brother, Gary Reed Hudson (Susan) of Ellijay, GA; her sisters, Frieda Crawford (Lamar) of Charlotte, NC, and Patricia Jane Hudson of Marietta, GA; and five treasured grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Hickory Flat United Methodist Church with Reverend David Brown officiating. All who loved Dianne are invited to join in honoring her beautiful life and faithful service.
