Kathleen Mary Day Perkins, age 47, passed away on August 15, 2026 from complications from a previous condition. She was originally a resident of Cobb County and ultimately of Cherokee County and Ball Ground. She faced many challenges in her life but she had a calling and natural talent to care for children and animals. During her lifetime she held several jobs in preschools, including teaching in a Montessori school for five years in St. Paul , Minnesota. She also worked in veterinarian clinics and owned and cared for many pets. She was a single mom who did an admirable job of raising and caring for her precious daughter, Jewell. She was born in 1979 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, attended Dodgen Middle school and she graduated from Holy Innocents High School in Atlanta. Later she earned a two year Associates degree in early childhood education at Chattahoochee Tech.

Kathleen is survived by her loving family – daughter Jewell Perkins, Ball Ground, GA, parents Marshall and Kathy Day, Ball Ground, GA, brothers Patrick Day, Ball Ground, GA and Marshall Day, Jr., Woodstock, GA, Aunt Marilyn and Uncle David Luek, Duluth, MN, cousins Lynsey and Steven Luek, Duluth, MN, Uncle Glenn Day and Aunt Shirley Day, Greensboro, GA.

In Lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to Tate United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 116, Tate, GA 30177.

The family will welcome friends from 11:30AM Saturday August 29th until the funeral hour of 2:00PM at Darby Funeral Home in Canton, GA.
