Kenneth Daulton Wright's Obituary

Kenneth Daulton Wright, age 97, passed away May 14, 2013, in Canton. Survivors include wife, Charlsie of Maryville, TN; daughters, Teresa Pischner, Charleston, SC, and Marcia Scott Wright, of Canton; 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. One grand-daughter preceded him as did his first wife, Dorothy Lois Scott. The family will hold a private service at a later date. Dr. Wright was retired as Associate Vice President of Continuing Education at The University of Tennessee. He was the originator of radio station WUOT, as well as the university television facility. Dr. Wright served in World War II, taught at Washington and Lee University, and was Chief of Educational Reconditioning at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC. He left the Army as a First Lieutenant in July of 1946. He graduated from The University of Tennessee, and then received the Doctor of Philosophy degree from Ohio State University in 1960. He was an avid hiker and camper, logging 5000 miles in the Smokies over 50 years.
