Obituary

With profound sorrow we announce the passing of Lisa Waldrop, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Lisa entered into the presence of the Lord after a courageous two and one-half-year battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on February 8, 1968, in Augusta GA, Lisa was raised in Laurens SC, where she developed the faith, compassion, and gentle spirit that would define her life. She carried those qualities with her throughout her life, touching the lives of countless people with kindness, generosity, and grace.

Lisa began her career as a preschool teacher, where her love for children was evident to everyone who knew her. Later, she devoted herself fully to her family as a homemaker, creating a home filled with love, encouragement, and faith. She had a special gift for making others feel welcomed, valued, and cared for.

A devoted Christian, Lisa lived her faith through action. She cared deeply for those who were less fortunate, often placing the needs of others before her own. Her compassion, humility, and servant's heart were a reflection of the beliefs she cherished. She found joy in helping others, spending time with family and friends, and traveling to new places, always appreciating the beauty of God's creation and the experiences shared with those she loved.

For nearly three decades, Lisa shared a loving marriage with her husband, Major General William B. Waldrop, Jr. (USAF, Ret.). Having met in their hometown of Laurens, they built a life together grounded in faith, devotion, and unwavering commitment. Through every challenge and every triumph, they remained each other's steadfast companions.

Lisa's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Buck; her children, William B. Waldrop III, Sarah Catherine Miranda, and Samuel Jackson Waldrop; her cherished grandchildren, William Waldrop IV, Isabella Waldrop, Spencer Waldrop, Asher Rye Miranda, and Theodore Jackson Waldrop; daughters-in-law Alexina Waldrop, Michaela Waldrop, son-in-law Nathaniel Miranda, her sister, Rita Wilson; niece Brooke Fletcher, nephews Kaden Fletcher, Brantlee Fletcher and niece Avery Fletcher.

To know Lisa was to know warmth, kindness, and love. She possessed a gentle strength that comforted those around her and a faith that remained steadfast even in life's most difficult moments. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply, the lives she touched through her generosity, and the example of faith she leaves behind.

Lisa will be dearly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Her memorial service will be held at Canton First Baptist Church on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 12 noon, followed by graveside burial at the Georgia National Cemetery (in Canton). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Atlanta Mission or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network

The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Ms. Lisa Waldrop.
