Joseph Lee Hadaway III, age 84 of Stone Mountain, GA passed away at his daughters' home in Wake Forest, NC. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 1:30PM Tuesday October 7, 2014 at the Georgia National Cemetery Canton, GA. Reverend Dennis Darville will officiate. LTC Hadaway is survived by daughters; Lee Anne (Dennis) Darville, Wake Forrest, NC, Patti (Lynn Collins) Hadaway, Decatur, GA, cousin; Anne Strohecker Davis, Virginia Beach, VA, 3 grandchildren; Joanna (Joe) Fife, Jonathan (Jillian) Darville, Tyler Collins, 2 great grandchildren; Joseph Patrick Fife, Rosalie Anne Fife. LTC Hadaway graduated from the University of Georgia in 1951. His military career began with a tour of duty in Fairbanks, Alaska, where he courted and married Rose Anne Bonifay, the eldest daughter of Colonel Lewis A. Bonifay and his wife Rosalie. His tours of duty included 18 months in Thailand, two tours of duty in West Germany, a tour at the Pentagon, followed by 18 months in Vietnam. He proudly served as a member of the 3rd Armour Division. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org .
