Margaret Rose Schissler Dutton was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Charles and Hazel Schissler on January 31, 1953. She was the youngest of three girls. Growing up, Margaret loved playing games on the front porch and spending time with her sisters. She graduated from Woodlawn High School, where she was very active in extracurricular activities. She was a member of the choir and showed school pride as a part of the pom pom team. On March 9, 1974, Margaret married her soulmate, Charles Edward Dutton. She and Charles built a life together in Columbia, Maryland, and on May 19, 1976, they welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Marla Rae. Margaret was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed camping and spending time at the beach in Ocean City, Maryland. She and Charles also loved eating Maryland steamed crabs as often as they could. Margaret truly enjoyed taking care of her family and those around her. She will be forever remembered for her love of children and her furry friends. For decades, she ran a daycare out of her home, offering tender loving care for generations of children. She was best known for her love of baking. Everyone loved to get her baked treats, especially her famous oatmeal raisin cookies. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She made it special for her family and included her daycare children. Margaret would provide all of the candies, icing, and cookie pieces to make gingerbread houses, a delightful tradition remembered fondly by all the children who were fortunate to participate. She truly cherished the train garden that her father set up every year and kept that tradition going. Margaret was also a dedicated grandmother. The birth of her three granddaughters made her beam with pride and delight. She was supportive and cherished her time with them. In 2009, Charles and Margaret relocated to Georgia to be closer to Rae and the grandchildren. She enjoyed the simple times of being together, doing arts and crafts or watching the girls on the trampoline. She also cheered them on through many of their extracurricular activities. Margaret peacefully passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Wellstar Hospice Care at Kennesaw Mountain, within hours of her beloved husband, Charles. She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Marla Rae Dutton Howard, and her sister, Barbara Ann Issac.
