Margaret "Peggy" McClure Moore passed away peacefully on Christmas
morning in her home.
She is survived by her loving husband Mark Moore, sons Matt (Beth)
Rogers, Andy (Heather) Moore, and Christian Moore, and five
grandchildren Lake Rogers, Lilly Rogers, Lawson Rogers, Maddie Kate
Moore, and Anna Moore. She is also survived by her brothers Chuck
(Carol) McClure, Joe (Gail) McClure and many nieces and nephews.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Dorothy McClure
and son Mark Eugene Moore, Jr ("Rusty").
Peggy grew up in Columbus, Georgia and later attended the University of
Georgia studying Radio, TV, and Film. She would go on to a career working
in the film industry as a production coordinator before later working in the
family radio business. It was her work for WCHK that brought her to Canton
where she met Mark when she needed to borrow a reel-to-reel tape
recorder. This serendipitous meeting led to a wonderful marriage lasting 41
years. Together with Mark she raised their three boys and travelled the
world fulfilling a lifelong dream of visiting the Galapagos Islands.
Always a fighter, Peggy battled cancer for sixteen years with Mark by her
side. Despite this setback, it never slowed her down and she continued to
give of her time as a founding board member of the Cherokee County
Educational Foundation, and serving on the boards of the Cherokee Arts
Council, and the Reinhardt President's Advisory council. She was a
philanthropist and gave generously to causes related to children and
families, driven largely by her time spent as a social worker. She and Mark
were also active members for many years at Canton First Methodist
Church and supporting members of Hope Fellowship in Costa Rica and
Boat Church on Lake Rabun.
Peggy believed in the importance of family and would regularly visit
relatives and friends she considered family all over the country. She and
Mark would always warn them that if they were invited to visit, they were
going to show up! She will be missed dearly by all who loved her.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Cherokee County
Educational Foundation in her honor.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 29th from 1pm - 2pm at Canton First Methodist Church. The service will follow the visitation at 2pm at the church with Rev. Sandra Henry officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery.
The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is honored to serve the Moore family.
